This is my “play” for WYP 60, which, you can find for yourself over at Dolcepics.com. For this play, I took the original image that Laura had taken and, using a combination of Photoshop and Lightroom, made my conversion.
Lightroom Steps
In Lightroom, I converted the image to grayscale and increased the exposure slightly. I then cropped the image slightly.
Photoshop Steps
I created an Invert adjustment layer to reverse the foreground and background colours i.e. making the background white. I then added a Levels adjustment layer and adjusted the black point. This was followed by some split toning, which I achieved by adding a Colour balance adjustment layer and changing the hue of the shadows and highlights.
I have also done some of my own smoke photography, which can be seen on my Flickr pages
